PHP Developer (Mid–Senior)

AY Studio is a digital marketing and brand agency working with founders and growing businesses. We help simplify complex marketing, brand, and PR challenges and turn them into clear, practical systems that actually work.

We’re looking for a mid–senior PHP developer who understands agency environments, enjoys solving real client problems, and can help build and maintain the systems behind our work.

This role is for someone comfortable taking ownership of projects, collaborating with marketing and design teams, and building reliable solutions that clients depend on.

What you'll be doing

You’ll work across internal tools, client platforms, and integrations that support our marketing and PR work.

Typical work includes:

  • Building and maintaining PHP-based web applications

  • Developing custom WordPress functionality and plugins

  • Working on APIs and integrations between different systems

  • Supporting and improving internal tools and automations

  • Collaborating with strategy, marketing, and design teams

  • Translating business problems into simple technical solutions

  • Maintaining performance, reliability, and security of systems

This isn’t a “code in isolation” role. Developers at AY Studio work closely with the rest of the team to make sure the technology actually supports the strategy.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone experienced, practical, and comfortable in an agency environment.

You should have:

  • 4+ years experience with PHP

  • Strong experience with WordPress development

  • Experience working in a digital agency or client services environment

  • Solid understanding of APIs and integrations

  • Experience with MySQL and database design

  • Familiarity with Git and modern development workflows

  • Good understanding of performance and security best practices

Bonus if you have experience with:

  • Laravel or other modern PHP frameworks

  • Marketing technology integrations

  • Automation and workflow systems
